Spiritual: Activity For All

Spirituality means many things to different people. I think of spirituality as that part of our life which is neither physical nor mental. It is the feeling part of ourselves, the "heart". Your spirit is as important to your health and well-being as your mind and your body. You may have trouble connecting with your spiritual side if you choose not to believe in things beyond the physical, but you should understand that the "spirit" is a very real part of our nature. It is that part of us which holds our personality.

Practicing a spiritual lifestyle is healthy and wholesome, according to scientific research.

Some people believe that all of our being resides in the physical brain and the neural activity of the brain. However, scientists are starting to learn that there is more to the human body than its mere "physical" components. We have established that the human mind is capable of doing things that are just not explained away by "oh, here is the brain and this part does that."

Only recently scientists announced that there is no "God spot" in the brain. Skeptics who disbelieve in the spiritual nature of human existence have argued there must be a single part of the brain responsible for these kinds of beliefs. We now know that is simply not true.

In fact, scientists have also shown that healthy spiritual lives have a positive impact on our physical health and well-being. This is important research that goes a long way to show that the human quest for spiritual health and well-being is not some misguided delusion. It is a real and natural part of our existence.

The importance of spiritual health and activity is only just now being documented by the scientific world. People who are more intuitive thinkers tend to be more likely to believe in spiritual things, according to controversial research. This research suggests that analytical thinkers may be "missing out" on something that intuitive thinkers "get".

The importance of being well-rounded and balanced in your spiritual life is becoming clearer as more research unveils the truth behind human spiritual existence: it is real and it is a necessary part of our lives.

The next time you are inclined to tell yourself there is no God, ask your gut how it feels about the matter. If you find you are suppressing your spiritual yearning for a better life, maybe it's time to go with your feelings.
